Benefits of White Fillings

Traditionally only metal sliver (amalgam) fillings have been possible in back teeth. This is due to the large biting forces on back teeth, and the amount of wear they are subjected to.

In recent years dental resins, known as composites, have become stronger and longer lasting. This means many patients are choosing to have a cosmetic tooth coloured filling, as an alternative to amalgam.

It can often be sensible to wait until fillings need replacing to consider a white one, but some patients opt to have fillings changed earlier, particularly if they are visible in the smile line.
